Sow with a view to righteousness,
Reap in accordance with kindness;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord
Until He comes to rain righteousness on you.
Hosea 10: 12 (NASB)
Our community lost three remarkable women recently. Each were remembered for their faith, unconditional love, ministries, and courage to overcome struggle. Each had an unforgettable sense of humor. And an “eyeball” look that couldn’t be misunderstood. The children paused and obeyed, and knew they were loved.
Listening to those who reminisced about their loved ones, I couldn’t help but see that relationship is not about doing perfect things; rather, its about being present. Connection is about listening with intention, embracing with warmth, serving without hesitation, and loving without limits. Though a crowd gathered…each individual had mattered!
So we cultivate silence and consider their way.
We see beauty and pain in the garden of grief.
Much happens in the bitter winter-waiting when nothing appears to be growing. The hard ground begs to be loosened, plowed, and fertilized. Hands work the soil as rocks, weeds, and debris are removed. And crops planted and watered will eventually spring forth.
Will we allow doubt and worry to hinder our kindness? Does fear of failure keep us stuck in a cramped corner? Do the desires of the world pull us in the wrong direction? We must dig deep and get messy. Our hearts will be softened as we till our dirt. There is hope!
Behold, the promise land…green pastures and opportunity. And become a space for God!Look into the hollow eyes of one broken, vacant soul, and make a difference.
We take from our lack and God’s supply, and share our endless life lessons, love, and laughter. Sacrificing our time, pride, and comfort, we step into purpose and fellowship!
Our heart is a sacred cathedral…so minister wherever your feet may be. When two shall meet, the gospel can be shared. It wasn’t meant to be contained within the walls of a church. Let God’s light shine through the windows of your soul!
How will you be remembered? May your ordinary days count!
Cultivate silence…listen…seek God…and let Him break-up your unplowed places!
Be expectant. Your garden will bloom in due time!
