By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; he lays up the deeps in storehouses. ~Psalm 33:7
My husband and I were vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine this past July and spent several mornings exploring the floor of the bay and hiking on the Island. By God’s direction, the harbor dried up each day as the tide went out. This was no gathering and heaping of water into a pile. Still it was fascinating to witness and I wondered what it must have been like when Moses led the Israelites across the Red Sea on dry land. (Exodus 15:8)
God rescued his people from bondage and made a way in the scary, deep waters so they could walk right through. He led them where no one had gone before and provided on the way. Moses remembered God’s miracles in the past. He did not look at the heaps of waters. It threatened to intimidate him and stop him midway. He kept walking with the enemy following close behind, and did not look back. Because the Lord was his strength, Moses could face what was ahead. Although, it seemed uncertain, God was leading him and his people to freedom.
Where is God asking you to walk this day? Is He asking you to lead with courage? Does He want you to speak out and make a difference in your family, workplace, church, and/ or community? Consider the things He lays on your heart…these are opportunities waiting for you . He wants to help you cross over to the other side and discover what He has in store. He will be your guide and strength.
Once we crossed to the Island, we hiked to the top and discovered a wonderful view of Bar Harbor and the bottom of the bay. This was the same harbor we found hidden treasures; the starfish, barnacles, and other beautiful displays of God’s handiwork from the ocean depth. He lays up the deep in store houses…all your fears, doubts, and treasures. They sometimes meet at the same place and He stores them up! Face your fears, walk straight ahead, and He will reveal His great riches along the way!
Go forward confidently this day in Him,

Been listening to Moses and taking a new look, thinking about sight and sound and their current production of Moses and the tickets that are reduced for homeschoolers right now, wishing I could go….yet ….God showed me something I overlooked in the story of Moses….God called the things that He did to show His power…Miracles and signs and wonders (Ex 4:21, 28,30)He calls them Miracles at the beginning of His meeting with Moses before he had performed one of them… I had never thought about plagues…..serpents, blood, frogs, gnats, flies, dead livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, death…..as miracles, even though they were supernatural. I tend to think of miracles as the good that God does for someone, like healing, restoring sight, hearing , the damaged flesh of leprosy, feeding the masses, and this seems to be much of the focus of the “healing ministries” . There is however a greater healing… the setting free of bondage, the showing of His power to teach His children to trust Him, to teach His leaders that He is Faithful, All a picture of what He will Miraculously do at the cross to set all men free from the bondage of sin.
