Lord Most High

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. Psalm 91:1-3 NASB

We are in a war, a vicious battle against an unseen enemy; but, the corona virus (COVID- 19) is the tip of the iceberg. The enemy of our soul isn’t a disease, addiction, or destructive thinking. No! The true adversary of our soul is a divided heart. God requires obedience and faithfulness.  In whom will we trust? Security is found in our Lord Most High.

Each day dawns with new questions, more uncertainty and pressing boundaries, and growing concerns for family, friends, and community members. It’s hard to still the tide of fear and panic. But when I consider the very nature of God, and the Son He sent on our behalf, I am able to rise.

Face the day. Let this Truth ground you: Jesus died for you. He paid the debt for your sins, the ones you committed and the ones inflicted upon you. He bore the cross so that you may know freedom. He was scorned, spit on, slapped, mocked, beaten, scourged, torn, bruised, pierced, and blindfolded . . . so that you may see with clarity. Eternal hope awaits those who trust in the Lord.

When you dwell in the shelter of the Most High, you abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Abide. You are seen, known, and kept close. Protected. Defended. Covered. Our Most High remains. Never will He forsake His own. His love endures.

As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
I John 2: 24, 25 NASB

Abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Stay close. And let the Word abide in you.

Freedom is found within the blessed borders of trust and obedience to our Heavenly Father. He is generous, full of grace, mercy, compassion, longsuffering, devotion, and lovingkindness. He offered His only beloved Son in exchange for our transgressions. He is humble. Holy. Pure. Just. Slow to anger. Creator of beauty and sustenance. He works all things together for His good. Remember His past miracles and provision; the Red Sea parted and the Israelites escaped, manna and quail fell from heaven, and hungry crowds were fed with a young school boy’s simple meal. Jesus healed the sick by His commands, or a touch of His hands and the fringe of His garment. Recall your personal deliverance!

Recount God’s promises. Because you have known His name, He sets you securely on high. When we cry out to Him for help, He hears and responds. The Lord most High is with us in trouble. He is Alpha and Omega. He is the Word. Dig deep into the meanings of His names, and let them steady your heart. He is Yahweh. Say it slow with understanding. He is the very breath of our existence.

We will know suffering, sorrow, and heartache. Loss. Many have already experienced it. However, this is not where the story ends. No one can take our salvation in Christ.

Take courage!

May the Lord Most High strengthen you today,

Lily Mae
