About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is “My God, My god, Why have you forsaken Me?” ~Matthew 27:46
Sometimes the wanderings He leads us on, are to places that we’d rather not go….
We wish we could turn back the clock and not go there…still time…wait…turn around! We ask ourselves, “Couldn’t He have chosen a different path?” Might there have been a detour that led us a different way, and we learned the same hard truth or lesson? These unwanted wanderings often lead us to the cross…
We draw comfort from the fact that Jesus asked the “why?” question. He cried out, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?” And Jesus yielded His Spirit, and our God responded. The veil of the temple was torn in two, the earth shook, and the rocks were split. God provided the answer, a purpose…Jesus made A Way for us to go directly to our heavenly Father.
We ask similar questions and wonder, “My God, My God, why have you abandoned us?” As we yield our spirit to Him on this journey we have not chosen, we hold on to the knowledge He has a purpose. He will reveal it to us in His time. In the meantime, we climb this hard mountain of pain , knowing we are held each step of the way!
When the weekend wanderings hurt, we rest in His arms…
