For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you , according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3: 14-19 (NASB)
Who can fathom the love of God for His sons and daughters?
God’s love carries us; it protects, supports, and disciplines. And it plants purpose and enthusiasm within our hearts. He leads the poor and powerless in unexpected ways, and grants mercy to the repentant sinner. Oh, that we would see and taste God’s goodness!
Noah found favor in the eyes of God when he walked with him. He did what God commanded and built an ark. It may have seemed absurd, but when God closed the door, the rain prevailed and flooded the earth. Noah and his family were confined in stinky and uncomfortable corners. But the rest of mankind was destroyed.
When God sets the rainbow in the clouds, He remembers His promise to all of His creation that He will never flood the earth again. Though man’s heart is bent on evil from his youth, and deserving of God’s wrath, He chooses to grant grace and leniency. How can we not be filled with gratitude?
God also gifts us with purpose and passion and guides our steps. His will is not kept hidden. He bars and shuts some doors. And He bestows hope as opportunities for ministry develop on the horizon. He challenges us to trust Him- to be fruitful and multiply.
The world is hungry and desperate for the love and light of Jesus Christ. God seeks workers who are committed to go to the dark and desolate places and to lead others out. Remember. He didn’t leave us in the pit of our despair where He found us.
Let your gratitude for God’s love compel you forward,
Lily Mae
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
